A self-taught Aboriginal photographer Kerry likes to have a camera in her hand when she’s not writing or working, her sense of belonging comes from the spirituality of who she is as an Aboriginal woman and her connections to the land. Kerry uses her skills and expertise to achieve the ultimate outcome her many talents which include photographer, poet, editor, graphic designer, curator, and publisher. Kerry’s works are exhibited nationally and are exhibited frequently her first solo exhibition titled ‘Talkin’ About Country’ was launched at Boomalli in April 2002. Her latest poetry book titled the same as her exhibition ‘Talkin’ About Country’ was launched in conjunction with her photographic exhibition. As a well-known Aboriginal writer, Kerry uses both mediums to portray to the audience the story of her journey. 'The fusing together of visual images together with the written word is a unique perspective, which allows you, the audience to share her journey as a contemporary Aboriginal woman. The poetry, the book and the photographs complement each other.' 'Jeffery Samuals' Kerry’s photography is held in many private collections including the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) as well as being accepted for the Telstra National Aboriginal Artists awards.
